County Antrim is one of the 100 cermonial counties of the UK. It is one of 6 counties located in Northern Ireland, and of these it has the largest population and the most northern geographic location. County Antrim is the closest of Northern Ireland's counties to Scotland.

Most of Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland (one of the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom), lies within the county town boundaries. Besides Belfast Antrim the county town has been surpassed by Ballymena as an economic hub for the county.
