The USS Reeves (CG-24) was the final member of the Leahy Class of Guided Missile Cruisers and served with the US Navy from 1964 to 1993 as a member of the Pacific Fleet. She served several tours in Vietnam and was the fisrt US Navy ship to visit China for a diplomatic port call in over 40 years.
Following her decommissioning she was stored in the Reserve Fleet at Pearl Harbor for 8 years before she was selected as a target ship for Exercise Tandem Thrust 2001. The Reeves was sunk at this location in 2,541 fathoms on May 31st 2001 by combined US and Australian Air and Sea forces.
