Siberian larch (Larix sibirica) planted by Peter the Great (Moscow) | tree, place with historical importance, interesting place

Russia / Moscow / Moscow
tree, place with historical importance, interesting place

It doesn't really look like a 300 years old tree, but that's because it had a tough life: struck by lightning at the turn of the 20 century, it didn't grow much since.
Once the oldest tree in the garden (a white willow near the pond) is dead (it nearly is, unfortunately), the larch will become the Garden's doyen.
