This supermarket was originally a small Alpha Beta (which was later rebranded as Lucky, and ultimately, Albertsons). Albertsons closed in summer 2006 shortly after new ownership (it would pull out of Northern California entirely within months). Fresh & Easy Market re-opened the store on March 2, 2011, becoming the first F&E in Northern California. Fresh & Easy did not occupy all the space, only occupying 15,192 square feet of 23,200 square feet. The extra space was to be sub-leased but never did. When F&E bit the dust in 2015, Safeway bought the lease and reopened in November 2016. Seeing as Safeway is owned by Albertsons now, this essentially brings Albertsons back to the space it abandoned a decade prior.
