What remains of Arch of Theodosius is located here.
The Arch of Theodosios originally formed one of the entrances of the Forum of Theodosius. Instead of the usual pillars, bundled columns decorated as trunks of trees support the three arches, of which the both lateral ones may be later additions. A statue on the top of the main arch was probably lost already in the 6th century.

  • Форум Феодосия - руины древней византийской площади в Стамбуле в районе Фатих. Ныне это современная площадь Беязыт. Форум построен при римском императоре Константине I Великом и изначально назывался Бычьим форумом. Позже, император Феодосий I Великий перестроил его и форум был переименован в его честь в 393 г. При раскопках на форуме были обнаружены древние памятники архитектуры: Колонна Феодосия (ее фрагмент храниться в Археологическом музее города), Базилика Феодосия, Триумфальная арка и др.
