Neryungri (rus. Нерюнгри) is a town in the Sakha Republic, Russia. Population: 66,269 (2002 Census); 72,540 (1989 Census). It was founded in 1975 due to the development of the nearby coal basin. The name "Neryungri" comes from the Evenk word for grayling.
