Micheon Lecture House was built through a joint petition during King Sukjong's reign to commemorate the 17th century's great confucian scholar Misu Humok (1595-1682) and his philosophy. A shrine was first built on Micheon and in 1693, Micheon Lecture House was granted its name under royal approval.
The place was refurbished twice in 1711 and 1715, and in the 23rd year of King Jeongjo's reign(1799), Chae Jegong was also enshrined. However in 1724, the 4th year of King Gyeongjong, Micheon Lecture House was demolished under the royal order to tear down all shrines built after 1714. Despite the fact that the place was actually built earlier than 1714, it was brought down due to a false report by Kim Sangtaek, a confucian scholar from the region. It is assumed Micheon Lecture House was reconstructed after some time in 1771 by Wonyi Chae Hongwon.
