village, interesting place

The hamlet is named after Tom Kennard who was the last man in England to be hanged for sheep stealing. The Pub used to be the "Cannards Grave Inn" and had a gibbet as an inn sign but the name was softened to the "Cannards Well Hotel" in the 1990's and the sign was changed to suit.
