Charing Cross is located on the Northern (via Charing Cross) and Bakerloo lines of the London Underground. It is connected to Charing Cross railway station and Trafalgar Square. Originally it was two seperate stations on each line: Trafalgar Square (Bakerloo) and Strand (Northern) with a station called Charing Cross to the south (now Embankment) which were later joined. On the platforms, there are murals which depict the funeral journey of Eleanor of Castile.
