Black Tower is one of the four observation towers of the city center, located outside the walls of fort independence. Access was made through a gate located two meters above the base, and connects the city fortifications and tower is accomplished by a drawbridge.
11 m tall, Black Tower was built in the XVth century, square plan, dungeon type, equipped with roof vents and spike firing. We know from documents that, from July 23, 1559, burned in a fire caused by lightning, smoky color acquired giving the name. In 1696, the tower was struck again by lightning, and during the plague epidemic of 1756 was last used as a shelter for guards and point guard cordon around the city.
