  • This building and the one SW of it are the federal building. Build to military specification of reinforce concrete with no window to the south, it was designed to mitigate a nuclear attack of San Francisco and act as the backup capitol for California. It contains offices for FBI, Treasury and Secret Service as well as other federal agencies. This is very unusual for a town which at the time this was constructed was only around 70K people.
