Tama Reien Cemetery
Opened in April 1923 as Japan's first park-type cemetary; first called "Tama Bochi," changed to "Tama Reien" in 1935. 128 hectares (
316 acres) makes this the largest metropolitan cemetary in Japan.

Famous people burried in Tama Reien include author Yukio Mishima and Isoroku Yamamoto, commander-in-chief who

  • Gosh, I did not even know the historical and national importance of Tama Reien Cemetery. I passed at a road in between the cemetery park even at night from 2000 to 2003. It is so serene. It's not scary. Wide and beautiful. I want to see it again. I lived at Plus Heights in Momijigaoka, Fuchu-shi.
