The MSC (building #0454) is Texas A&M University's student union, a three-level building with eating places, recreation areas, two ballrooms, and other student resources and offices. It was dedicated in 1951 (though had been open by 1950) to honor the fallen students who went to war. It has been expanded and renovated several times (a major one in the 1970s, and a minor one in the 1990s), most recently a renovation which shut the entire building down for 3 years (2009-2012).
In addition to offices, two ballrooms, and recreation areas, it currently contains a number of eating places and businesses (listed in "Places in this Building").
The MSC also features the Forsyth Galleries, the famous "Flag Room", the "Upper Level Dining" cafeteria (an ala carte style food court with at first original concepts by TAMU, but then later run by Chartwells) and memorial spaces dedicated to the fallen. Historically, it had once featured the Aggieland Post Office, a barbershop, a bowling alley, and even a hotel, but they were taken out during the remodeling.
It is connected via second-level skywalk to Rudder Tower.
