The Interdisciplinary School of Scientific Computing (ISSC) was started in 1994 with a view
to bring under a single roof the educational and research activities in scientific computing.
ISSC was started for seeing the need for high quality research in the field of scientific
computing.

ISSC at present offers a Master Degree in Computer Science with specialization in Scientific
Computing and a Ph.D in the same branch. The discipline of Scientific Computing evolves out the
allegation between the techniques dealing with pure sciences and computer sciences. Many problems encountered in Scientific Computing are time and/or memory intensive in nature. Understanding of basic sciences is crucial at the formulation stage as well as for interpreting the results. Efficient memory management and faster algorithms are essential at computation stage. Visualization techniques are also extremely helpful for interpreting the results which may become absurd otherwise.

The discipline of Scientific Computing combines domain expertise in various branches of science with computer science. With this course , the students have opening in both commercial as well as scientific computing. Furthermore , the base of any new commercial idea has solid foundation in scientific computing. The recent IT 'meltdown' has emphasized the importance of the kind of training given at ISSC.....
The instutite has an annual technical event called TECHFEST.
