The Black Course is the best known and most difficult of the five courses at Bethpage State Park. It was originally landscaped by A.W. Tillinghast for the Long Island State Park Commission. In 2002, it became the first publicly-owned and operated course to host the U.S. Open (won by Tiger Woods), and hosted the event again in 2009 (won by Lucas Glover). Also hosted the 2019 PGA Championship (won by Brooks Koepka), and will host the Ryder Cup in 2025. For the 2019 PGA, the course played as par 70, 7,459 yards.
As of 2020, weekend green fee is $75 for New York residents, $150 for non-New York residents.
