This is the entrance to the office space of both the short building and what is the second floor of the middle building. The existence of loading docks indicates that the structures were initially intended to be used for retail commercial businesses, light industrial or warehouses, but with the dot-com boom and the Web 2.0 boomlet, many such spaces were converted to office space. The three buildings built in the same style and side-by-side with firewall separating them. The short building but the other two run the full width of this city block. Addresses are allocated to different floors based on the entrances, with addresses over on Bryant St for some floors. The design of the buildings is: standard firewalls, roof with steel double-Howe trusses supporting a non-standard hip roof (the end facets are not flat) on a rectangular plan. From satellite photos, you can see that the roof has shadows due to roof shape that indicates where the outer two trusses are. The ends are not standard hip roof design: the joists go straight from the end wall to the metal truss, with no actual hip. Since the walls are flat-topped and the tops of the trusses are pitched, end parts of the roof are curved, rather than forming flat facets as in a standard hip-roof design one would see in a residential home.

The short building has three such trusses. Each have twelve runs of joists lengthwise. While there is an ample skylight built into the roof of the short build, note the 3 foot gap between the short building and 436 Bryant St, creating what amounts to a tiny inaccessible interior court and allowing for some additional sunlight to stream into the back end corner.

The full-length buildings have seven trusses. The middle building is two units and the last building (which its own entrances) is divided into as many as four units.

While there is about a 30 ft. difference between the two ends of this city block, the altitudes between this side and the Bryant side ends of the long buildings are within a few feet of each other.

Each building has some sort of basement, but for the short building, it may be little more than a crawlspace. As you go downhill to the end of the second building, it has an entrance to its basement. 51 and 53 each have ground-floor doors.
