Designed in 1929 in the Art Deco style by Rosario Candela with Arthur Loomis Harmon (of the firm of Shreve, Lamb & Harmon) for James T. Lee. A secondary entrance was built at 71 East 71st Street. Occupants included John D. Rockefeller and and Jackie Onassis.

Today the building is regarded as one of the--if not the--richest apartment building in the world. Residents must have liquid assets of at least $100M to qualify to buy.
