TN31 - Arasili Naathar Temple - ThiruArasili (Ozhenthiyapattu) [Thondai Nadu 31][Devara Temple]

This Shivastalam is located in the vicinity of Irumbai Maakalam, 8 km away from Pondicherry. This is the 31st of the 32 Devara Temple in the Thondai Naadu.

ThiruGnanaSambandhar had sung Patikam on Arasili Naathar.

Vamadeva muni is said to have worshipped Shiva here. Arasilinathar is also known as Aswatheswarar.The Sivalingam is relatively small in size. The annual festival is celebrated in the month of Vaikasi. Legend has it that observing Pradosha vratham offered bounties to an ancient monarch. There are inscriptions from the period of the imperial Cholas here.

Observing Pradosham is very special in this temple.

The Current Chief Minister of Puducherry visits this temple very often during Pradosham. Also many eminent person visits this temple.
