Konkani play & perodical writer Bathu Belman (Baptist Mendonca) was born & raised here & East part of kollya was the Home to more than 12 D'Souza families. Kolya was nestled between dense forest & green Paddy fields. Now most of the local families have moved out from this beautiful area.
