An elegant building of neo-classical, Graeco-Roman architecture located in front of Plaza Lacson (formerly Plaza Goiti) in Santa Cruz, Manila. The present building started its construction in 1938 and finished after World War II.

The site of this building was formerly used and occupied by the following business establishment;
1. Monte de Piedad, considered the Philippine's first savings bank and the "pawnshop" of the Roman Catholic Church
2. American Red Cross Club during the American Colonial Era and World War II
3. South Supermarket
4. Prudential Bank
5. Bank of the Philippine Islands, The new owner and occupant of this building at present.
