Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument (Yonkers, NY)

Elaborate, obelisk-shaped monument flanked by two period cannons, erected on the east lawn of the then City Hall in 1892. Larger-than-life copper statues of an artilleryman, a sailor, a cavalryman, and an infantryman stand atop a roughly cubical base, which is inscribed on all four sides with mottoes and quotes from Abraham Lincoln and others. At the very top stands a stone color bearer. Dedicated to the citizens of Yonkers who gave their lives in the American Civil War.
