Plaveč Castle (Slovak: Hrad Plaveč or Plavečský hrad, Hungarian: Palocsa, Polish: Zamek Pławiec, Latin: 1294 r. castrum Palocha, 1301 r. castrum Ploche, 1302 r. Plaucha, 1307 r. castrum Plautz, 1312 r. castrum Polocha, 1317 r. castrum de Polovcha, 1456 r. castrum Plawcz, 1457 r. Plavycz) - ruins of a castle from 13th century, lies in northeast part of Slovakia, between Šariš and Spiš region. It is close to Poland. Ruins are situated on the right bank of the river Poprad above the village Plaveč. Castle was destroyed by fire in 1856.
