The First National Bank of Atlanta was Atlanta's tallest building for 10 years (1966-1976) until surpassed by Westin Peachtree Plaza. This was the tallest building in the Southeast at the time of its construction. In 1991 First Atlanta merged with Wachovia Bank of Georgia and the building took the name of the new parent bank. Soon after the merger, Wachovia moved their offices to 191 Peachtree Tower. 2 Peachtree now serves as an office tower for the state of Georgia.
