Naval Station Rota is a Spanish Naval Base which is used jointly by both Spain and the United States. The base operates under the command of Spain and Spanish Naval Forces, with the US Navy operating as a tenant command within the base.
Home to both port and airfield facilities, Naval Station Rota provides support for Spanish, US and NATO ships and aircraft operating in the region and en route to other theatres. Rota's port facilities serve as the principal homeport for the Spanish Navy, while its landside and airfield facilities are home to US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Army and US Aircraft commands.
