Wilton South railway station (closed) (Wilton)

Wilton South railway station was located on the West of England Main Line from London Waterloo to Exeter. It was closed by the notorious Beeching Axe during the 1960s. From time to time, proposals flash up to have it reopened (the station building and the up platform survive - although in a bit of a state), although nothing has ever come to fruition. It was called 'Wilton South' to distinguish it from another station built by the Great Western Railway, although really it was located in the north of Wilton.
