I landed up in Udane in 1978 and there are no much changes happened to this tiny place over these years...same old restaurants, grocery shops, Church and The Great St. Antony's High School where I completed my secondary education. |

My grandfather Mr.K.Thomas came to this tiny village in 1950 along with number of malayali christian families from kerala.Though first generation of migrants largely remained illiterate second and third generation got education and have achied great fame throughout the world. Software engineers, banking proffesionals. Chartered accountants, Army Personnels, Doctors and people who have attained Phd hail from this area. And presently Malayali Christians dominate social ,political, economic arena |

I agree with first two comments that phycialy nothing much has been changed in udane. But over the last two decades social and economic fabric of udane have seen drastic changes. You can find well placed professionals whos grandparents were daily wage laboures ,which in turn raised the per capita income.Having two wheeler is most common here and familes with cars ,bikes are not at all rare.I take a lot of pride to say that udane has never seen a communal clash.Hindus and christian live peacefully here.Though too samll to call as a town it boasts off hospital, nationalized bank, post office, ration shop, village panchayath, church and temple and couple of good hotels catering mostly to tourists who pass thourgh the NH -48.All in all a small peace loveing, upper middle class life style, well educated, community. |
