The Floodway
This is the water entry point of the flood-water diversion system. It is an earth plug that is blasted out when the flood-way system is activated.
There are two submersible gates set inside the river just after this point, which when raised act to further divert water into the flood-way.

The earth plug is not "blasted out", rather the river level has to rise high enough to flow over the plug and enter the floodway diversion. The control gates are there to help raise the water level up stream and divert is aroung the city. | ||||
