Fort Marcy Park (McLean)

Fort Marcy Park is a public park located in Fairfax County, Virginia. It is administered by the National Park Service as part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

The park gained national notoriety when the body of White House Counsel Vince Foster was found there after his alleged suicide in the first year of the Clinton Administration.

Crime scene investigators conducted a thorough survey of the site where Foster's body was found. Although hundreds of Civil War relics were recovered, the suicide bullet was not found. Foster's eyeglasses were also recovered roughly nine feet down the slight embankment from the body. The official explanation was that they "rolled" down the slight slope since Foster was likely wearing them when he shot himself, but the glasses were in an open position and eyeglasses left open do not roll down slight embankments.
Numerous carpet fibers found all over Foster's suitjacket and pants could not be identified.
It was due these findings and many other inconsistencies in the official report of the incident that caused Congressional investigators to continue pressing the issue and still leaves unanswered questions about what really happended to Foster.

Shortly after the event made the news, The U.S. Park Service moved the cannon which was adjacent to where the body was found to another part of the fort. They claimed it was to preserve the site from curious visitors, but Congressional investigators felt that it was done to cast doubt of where the body was actually discovered.
