One of the white towns (Pueblos Blancos) of Andalucia, Cortes de la Frontera has a population of about 4500 and is one of the largest of the villages in Malaga Province. The area has been populated since Phoenician times in 1100BC, and the surrounding countryside includes a number of Phoenician, Greek and Roman ruins.
