Fivay was a short-lived, but extremely ambitious, sawmill town from 1908 to 1912. It was one of he largest factory towns of its kind in Florida at the time, with a population of about 1,500. The founders of the town purchased 280,000 acres, but when the expenses became greater than the investment, the town faltered. Land was divided up and sold, equipment was auctioned, and the migrant employees returned to the towns nearby.
