Designed by J.H. Puntin, this public school was built in Washington Park in 1921, and was named after Sir Herbert Horatio Kitchener, a distinguished British general who served as Secretary of State for War from 1914 to 1916. (He drowned in 1916 when the ship he was traveling on hit a German mine and sank.)
