meteor crater, interesting place, draw only border

The depression is interpreted as a meteorite impact crater formed between 14.3 million–14.5 million years ago in the Miocene.
The Nördlinger Ries is a large circular depression in western Bavaria, Germany, located north of the Danube in the district of Donau-Ries. The city of Nördlingen is located about 6 kilometers (3.7 mi) southwest of the centre of the depression.
The crater is most commonly referred to simply as the Ries or Ries crater. The original crater rim had an estimated diameter of 24 kilometers (15 mi). The present floor of the depression is about 100 to 150 m (330 to 490 ft) below the eroded remains of the rim.

  • i see another round just slightly to the right and higher. another round of about the exact same diameter. this could easily be proved or disproved by checking if there is evidence of meteoric impact materials, such as chrytallized stone, metals and such.. can you also see that circle? it seems clearly discernable to me..
  • I assume you're using the Google Sat image. That round-ish shape is an elevated range, not a crater, of the Fränkische Alb to the North of the Altmühl river. No impacts involved :-) However, there IS another crater some 40 km to E-S-E, with the town of Steinheim in its center.
