Plant City is a city in eastern Hillsborough County in the U.S. state of Florida. Incorporated in 1885, Plant City was named for railroad developer Henry B. Plant, who transformed the state by bringing railroad to Florida's west coast and Tampa Bay. Traditionally an agricultural/farming community, Plant City is famous as the winter strawberry capital of the world and hosts annually the Florida Strawberry Festival.
Plant City has a total area of 22.7 sq mi (58.9 km2) and its estimated population in 2007 Census was 32,328. The community's "small-town" atmosphere is a stark contrast to its urban neighbor to the west, Tampa.
