Twin fish belly water control structures on Prescott Channel and Three Mills River will control the rivers upstream at a navigable depth, exclude tidal influx and regulate fluvial flood events. A 62m lock gives access for pairs of 350t barges into the area and so helps to take thousands of lorry journeys off local roads during the construction of the Olympic Park alone.
