vashi bridge

There are four bridges that connect Mumbai to Navi Mumbai
The north most one connects Airoli in Navi Mumbai to Mulund in Mumbai

The other three are close to one another as shown here. The north bridge (of the three) is an old bridge that is used only for two wheelers
The center bridge is the new six laning bridge work under supervision of Arun Vithal Nagpure Sect.Engr. The third one is the railway bridge

There are three bridges at this location. The northern-most bridge is the old Vashi bridge for road traffick. Did not last long and can now be used only for two-wheeler traffick.
Next south to this old bridge is the New Vashi Bridge for road traffick. It is taller and has six-lane two-way traffick. Seems to be better constructed.
The third southern-most bridge is the Railway bridge. After this bridge was completed, the Navi Mumbai nodes began fast appreciating in value. That is the importance of a railway in Mumbai.
Mumbai (and Navi-Mumbai) is driven by the middle-class who daily travel mostly by train. They are sucked for all their worth by the rich class, and drained by the wretched poor-class. Many middle-class have to live in slums, by the will and evil of politicians. Navi Mumbai provided an escape route for the middle class who did not want to end up in the slums of Mumbai.
