Nishi Hongan-ji Temple (Kyoto)

Hongan-ji was founded in 1591 but split into two sects by order of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu to weaken this Buddhist sects influence. The Nishi (west) branch is said to have 10,000 temple and 12 million followers worldwide.
