The residence was built in 1993 and designed by architect Richard Meier--it has an aluminum and glass exterior and is considered a study in geometric design. It has 8,891 square feet and sits on 3.2+ acres. DCAD shows a current market value of $4,300,100. Rachofsky made his millions managing the hedge fund Regal Asset Management which closed in 2003. In February 2005 the Rachofsky's donated the house and the art it contains to the DMA. The $50-million gift also came with a $10-million operating endowment for the house.
