Listed Grade II building built by the Beaufoy family as part of the Lambeth Ragged Schools movement. Externally it is decorated with swags of fruit, plaques with the dates 1851 (the first school) and 1907 (Beaufoy Institute). Internally it has unique Cockerill-Doulton salt glaze tiles. The Beaufoy lay unused after the demise of of Inner London Education Authority in 1990. It was sold in 2013 to Diamond Way Buddhism UK (the car park at the rear was sold separately to Bellway Homes). The building is being refurbished and will open as a Buddhist centre in the Karma Kagyu lineage in April 2014.
