The Red Monastery (officially Lechnica Monastery, slov. Červený kláštor, pol. Czerwony Klasztor) - is a unique cultural and historical building, situated at the beautiful mouth of the river Lipnik that comes into Dunajec river in the Pieniny Mountains (Pieniny National Park), under the majestic mountain Three Crowns (pol. Trzy Korony; 982 m, 3,221 ft AMSL).
The monastery (14th century) was originally a seat for two different groups of monks - Cartesian and Camaldulsian. The name "Red" it gained according to its red roof. The emperor Joseph II. abolished the monastery as useless in 1782.
In the building of the former monastery is a museum with ethnographic, pharmaceutical and historical collections. Exhibitions are owned by the Východoslovenské múzem in Košice.
