This church was originally consecrated in honor of Saint Alexander of the Neva River in 1896. It was rededicated in 1920 in honor of the Holy Annunciation of the Blessed Theotokos, It managed to survive as a functioning church until 1933 when it was closed and desecrated, being converted into a warehouse, by the Soviet Government. During the occupation of Dnepropetrovsk by the forces of the National Socialist (Nazi) Germans services resumed in 1943 and continue on till the present day.
