The old lutheran church was built in 1810. It was destroied by fire in 1905. A new one was built in Joenperä. In the parish there were 33 villages. The church was removed from the parish in 1936. The churchbell was first used at the Järvenpää kolchos, later it was moved to the Peipiä torpedostation. During the 2nd worldwar the germans gave the bell to the ortodox church of Somero.
