Muaidule is undoubtedly the longest beach in Kadavu, well over a mile long. My earliest memory is of me running on rubbery legs like a drunken sailor along this beach, the war was on and I would have been about five then, mid-1940, and there were a lot of moving about during those uncertain times.Later during my schooldays in the 50s we picnicked on Muaidule quite a lot and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Moce mada !!

I remember growing up in Drue around the late 80's and early 90's. We used to go to Muaidule to collect coconuts and firewood. Of course back in the days, we didnt realise that it would later become a major tourist attraction. It used to be very hot and whenever our "bubu" tell us to go to Muaidule...it would be like a torture...because of the long walk to and back...We would go and bathe in the crystal clear water and pick mangoes and dawa and then very late into the afternoon would collect only a few coconut and firewoods we found along the way to the village...of course we get the hidding when we reached the village because we've been gone long time and the amount of stuff that was brought back...lol.. We took it for granted maybe because it has alwyas been there for us. Now, as we've grown up...moved to the cities...moved overseas and have come to know that people actually pay to visit Fiji...have a dip in the crystal clear water...experience the warm sun...sea n smile....Oh man...will give all these just to go back to my village and experience Muaidule once again...to bathe in the nice clear water...trod on the white sandy beaches...and just to have that mouth watering fish cooked in openfire and dipped in seawater, with lemon, chillie and of course the famous breadfruit to go with it.
