Known as 'The Mole' or 'King of Edge Hill' Williamson had vast and elaberate tunnels dug out of the sandstone from beneath his property that interconected many buildings he had in the area. Employing returning soldiers from the european wars in early 1800s' he helped to eliviate some of the widespread poverty that was rife in the city at that time.
