tennis court(s), place with historical importance, interesting place
Here lived Caroline of Brunswick, uncrowned Queen, whose bitter divorce case with George IV made her the leading celebrity of her day. Montague House was caricatured as a brothel in political cartoons and quickly demolished once its famous resident was no longer around. Scant remains visible in Greenwich Park include an uncomfortable-looking tiled sunken bath.
Across Blackheath to the south was the house's detached garden of which the extraordinary mock pagoda still stands.
