Experimental Breeder Reactor I - World's first electricity-generating nuclear reactor

EBR-1
Experimental Breeder Reactor I

The place is open to the public memorial day to labor day. When we went a college student was on hand to answer questions and give tours. You can go in and see the mechanical arms they used to move the radioactive elements, and you can even try one out for yourself. Its a really neat place, right in the middle of a lot of open badlands. They must have built this experimental reactor in this isolated "national laboratory" flatlands for safety reasons.
