Christ the Redeemer International TunnelThis tunnel high in the Andes is on the border of Argentina and Chile. Nearby, also on the border is the world-famous statue of the same name, Christ the Redeemer. This was built in 1906 to commemorate the end of a border dispute between the two countries. The chileans were angry because Christ looks out over Argentina and turns his back on Chile. A chilean writer once wrote that it was put that way because Argentina needed to be looked after more than Chile.
