Emappur

A small village in Villupuram district, Emappur has a lot of sugarcane fields. It has also an old temple of Lord Shiva named Vedapureeswarar, which is in a dilapidated condition. But attempts are going on to renovate the old temple which was built during 9th century A.D. by Chola Kings. The name of the village is derived from Sanskrit "Hema" meaning gold and "Puri" meaning land which was used to glorify the paddy cultivation in this village and the whole village would be swathed in golden color of the paddy fields during harvest time. This village also has a Temple of Lord Pattabhiramaswamy. If you ever visit the nearby Thiruvennainallur a journey through this village road to Villupuram will prove to be a memorable experience.
