Ginásio Clube Portugues(GCP) was founded on the year of 1875,and from that time on was the club in Portugal to begin and introduce many of the sports until than not known,it will be 133 years old very soon.It is the second oldest club of Portugal and the first is Associação Naval de Lisboa but this one, only for nautic sports,rowing and sailing.The first football official team was from GCP,rugby,cicling,weight lifting,grec-roman fight,gymnastic,athletics,fencing,archery,swiming,motorcicling,boxing and many other sports,The GCP has now about 40 diferent sports has 15000 members most of them practicing.Is one of the few clubs in all world to be distinguished with the Fearnly Cup,as recognising the importance to the developmentof sport in Portugal. |
