Eagle Creek Park opened in 1972 as one of the largest municipal parks in the U.S. Located on the far northwest side of Indianapolis, the park covers approximately 1,400 acres (5 km²) of reservoir and 3,900 acres (16 km²) of land. There are about ten miles (16 km) of paths within it. Eagle Creek serves primarily as a nature preserve.

The park includes several points of interest, including:
