A roundabout in South Basingstoke. The Roundabout was originally constructed as part of the Basingstoke Bypass built in 1932 on the southern edge of basingstoke. The roundabout is one of two surviving oval shaped roundabouts (Venture Roundabout and the Golden Lion Roundabout) designed to help the bulk of traffic flow passed the town heading east/west. The role of the bypass was replaced by the M3 and by the Basingstoke Ringway a large orbital ring road network built during the 1960's expansion of Basingstoke, which carries traffic around the redesigned town centre. The road now carries through traffic passed the residential and industrial estates of Cranbourne, Viables and Brighton Hill.
